Hacettepe Üniversitesi olarak, bilimin yanında kültür ve sanata yönelik yoğun bir çaba içinde olmak ve Ulu Önder Atatürk'ün "Sanatsız kalmış bir milletin hayat damarlarından birisi kopmuştur" ifadesinde de en iyi biçimde tanımlanan bir gereği yerine getirmek temel amacımızdır.

Üniversitemiz bünyesinde yer alan ve ülkemizin en köklü sanat kurumlarından biri olan Ankara Devlet Konservatuvarı bu amaca yönelik olarak ciddi çalışmalar yapmakta, yine Üniversitemizin gurur kaynağı olan Hacettepe Senfoni Orkestrası etkinliklerini aralıksız sürdürerek sanatsever mensuplarımız ve halkımız ile buluşmaktadır. Bu çalışmalar, Üniversitemizin başta öğrencileri olmak üzere tüm akademik ve idari personeli tarafından giderek artan bir ilgi ile izlenmektedir.

Üniversitemizi kültür ve sanat alanında toplumumuzla buluşturan temel değerlerimizden olan Hacettepe Senfoni Orkestrası elemanlarına ve orkestramızı başarı ile yöneten Sayın Prof. Erol Erdinç'e teşekkür ediyor, başarılı bir sezon diliyorum.

Müzik eğitimine Ankara Devlet Konservatuvarı'nda Tulga Çetiz ile piyano, Necil Kazım Akses ve A. Adnan Saygun ile kompozisyon çalıştı. 1973'te mezun oldu ve aynı okula öğretim görevlisi olarak atandı. 1975'de Fransa'ya gitti. Paris Konservatuvarı'nda Jean Martinon ile başladığı orkestra şefliği çalışmalarına Ecole Normale de Musique de Paris de Pierre Dervaux ile devam etti. Pierre Boulez ile piyano eşlikçiliği, Nadia Boulanger ve Pierre Petit ile kompozisyon çalıştı. Mezun olduktan sonra Türkiye'ye dönerek Ankara Devlet Opera ve Balesi'nde orkestra şef1iğine atandı. 1983-2000 yıllarında İstanbul Devlet Senfoni Orkestrası'nın Müzik Yönetmeni olarak görev yaptı. 2000-2002 yılları arasında Bilkent Müzik Fakültesi'nin Dekanı oldu. Bu yıllarda Fransa, Çekoslovakya, Rusya, Portekiz, Brezilya, Arjantin, ABD, Kanada, Belçika, Meksika, İtalya, Hollanda, Lüksemburg ve Litvanya'da konuk şef olarak konserler verdi. 1986, 1988 yıllarında Kanada ve 1995'te Romanya Uluslararası Orkestra Şefliği Yarışmaları'na jüri üyesi olarak davet edildi. 1992-1995 yıllarında TC Kültür Bakanlığı Sanat Danışmanı olarak görev yaptı. Devlet Sanatçısı olan Erdinç'in St. Petersburg Flarmoni, Bulgaristan Radyo Orkestrası, Ankara Devlet Opera ve Balesi Orkestrası, Bilkent Senfoni Orkestrası gibi topluluklarda CD kayıtları bulunmaktadır.

Erol Erdinç started out studying composition with A. Adnan Saygun and piano with T. Cetiz at the Ankara State Conservatory. After graduating in composition he stayed on at the Conservatory to teach, while also working as pianist for the Ankara State Opera and Ballet. Six years later in 1975 he went to Paris where he studied conducting under renowned artists such as Jean Martinon at the Paris Conservatory and Pierre Dervaux at the Ecole Normal de Musique de Paris; composition with Nadia Boulanger, Pierre Petit and accompaniment with Pierre Pontier. He also Participated in master classe given by Pierre Boulez and Kirill Kondrashin.

Returning to his country in 1980, Erol Erdinç conducted at the Ankara State Opera and Ballet until 1983, then he moved on to conduct with the Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra, which gives about 64 performances a season, in response to strong public demand.

Beside the regular concert season, Maestro Erdinç has taken the Istanbul Symphony all over Turkey and they together have given many concerts in Europe as well. His ability to to excel within the varied formats of opera, ballet and symphonic repertoire has led to an impressive number of international engagements. Widely acclaimed by critics, he has made guest appearances in France, Italy, Portugal, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Russia, Lithuania, Bulgaria, Czechoslovakia, Mexico, USA, Brazil and Argentina.As an educator he has taught at the Istanbul University Conservatory, where he developed remarkable pedagogic work, that greatly contributed to the musical life of this city. He was also invited as guest Professor to the Royal Conservatory of Brussels, the Porto State Music Faculty in Portugal and the Londrina Festival in Brazil.Erol Erdinç has served as a jury member several times in many prestigious international competitions,including the Canada International Music Competition and the Enescu Conductors Competition in Romania. Great communicator, at the beginning of the television network. Years later in 1991 he created his own TV programme on TRT 2, the State Cultural Channel, where different aspects of music were approached.

As a composer and orchestrator, he has written numerous works for orchestra, choir, symphonic jazz orchestra and music for children, intergating traditional Turkish modal music, popular styles, jazz and creating his own musical linguage. His concerts as a chamber pianist have taken him all over the world so has his passion for jazz. While he was still a student at the Conservatory, he started to play piano solo in different formations. Many years later he introduced to Turkey Symphonic Jazz through the "Spring Concerts" with the Istanbul State Symphony.

Erol Erdinç was artistic advisor to the Ministery of Culture for 3 years and was later appointed by the Turkish Goverment with the title of "State Artist", an award given to honor only the most distinguished artists in his country.
